A new door, or a motor for the one you have
A sliding garage door is made from a single panel. When you open it, it lifts, runs on rollers along two tracks and parks under the garage ceiling. There are no sections or hinges between panels — which is why it is simple, sturdy and easy to motorise.
We do two things: we install new sliding doors made to the size of your opening, and we fit motors to sliding doors that are currently opened by hand. Either way we come out first to measure and look at the opening, the ceiling and where the power reaches.

When a sliding door makes sense
It is the right choice for a home garage with a standard opening, when you want a solid door with few moving parts that is easy to maintain.
It needs a little room above the opening for the tracks, and a clear ceiling inside roughly as deep as the door is tall — that is where the door sits when open. As it opens, the bottom swings out slightly, so do not park right up against it. We check all of this at the survey.
A motor for the door you already have
Plenty of garages around here already have a sliding door that is opened by hand. If it lifts easily and stays put when you leave it half open, it can take a motor without being replaced.
We check the rollers, tracks and springs first. A motor does not fix a door that is hard to lift — it only wears it out faster. Where needed we replace rollers or adjust the springs before fitting, and you hear the cost before we start.
What installation day looks like
For a new door we fit the frame in the opening, fix the tracks under the ceiling, hang the panel, set the springs and mount the opener on the ceiling with its arm attached to the door. On a typical garage it takes one working day.
We set the travel limits and the force, so the door stops if it meets something in its way. We leave after you have used it a few times with the remote and know how to open it by hand during a power cut.

How much room do I need in the garage?
A few centimetres above the opening are enough for the tracks, and inside you need a clear ceiling roughly as deep as the door is tall, plus room for the opener. If there are beams, pipes or a light right there, we spot them at the survey and tell you what can be moved.
Can you motorise the sliding door I already have?
Most of the time, yes. What matters is that the door lifts easily by hand and stays put when left half open — a sign the springs are set right. If it is hard to lift we fix the rollers or springs first, otherwise the motor strains and fails within months.
Does the door swing out when it opens?
A little, yes: the bottom lifts outwards before the door runs in under the ceiling. So do not park right up against it or leave anything directly in front. The opener has a force setting and stops if the door meets something.
Do I need power run to the garage?
Yes, the automated version needs an earthed socket near the opener, on the ceiling. If there isn't one, we handle the cable run ourselves — we do electrical installations too, so there is nobody else to call.
What happens during a power cut?
You pull the opener's release handle and lift the door by hand. It takes a few seconds and we show you how at handover.
How long from order to installation?
A new door is manufactured to your dimensions, so the usual lead time is 10 to 15 working days from order. A motor for an existing door can go on within a few days if we have it in stock.
